For the past six years, the Canberra Islamic Centre (CIC) has been connecting with Canberra’s Muslim and non-Muslim community through the airwaves with its Radio CIC program. The volunteer presenters at Radio CIC provide an informative radio program and are Canberra’s first English Islamic community radio program. The show is broadcast live every Sunday between 4 and 5 pm. During the holy month of Ramadan, Radio CIC broadcasts a daily show from 4:00pm to Maghrib, the evening prayer that marks the time to break the day long fast.
The show features discussion on religious topics, lectures of internationally renowned scholars, news of local events and current affairs, and music from Muslim recording artists. Updates on the CIC are also provided on the show. During Ramadan, information is provided on the weekly Saturday Iftars (the breaking of the fast evening meal) that are held at the CIC. Quiz and other competitions are run to appeal to the younger audience and Imam Adama Konda, appears regularly for Q&A sessions.
